2018 Scholarship Essay Contest

The Pennsylvania AFL-CIO will be accepting applications for the 2018 Scholarship Essay Contest.  All entries must be submitted or postmarked by January 31, 2018. Every year the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO offers scholarships to affiliated union members and their families. The criteria for entering are broken up into two categories with different topics for each surrounding an opportunity for students to learn more about the importance of Organized Labor in America. AFL-CIO’s 2017 Convention Concludes in St. Louis

The National AFL-CIO held its 28th Constitutional Convention in St. Louis, Missouri this week.  Delegates re-elected President Richard Trumka, Secretary-Treasurer Liz Shuler, and Executive Vice President Tefere Gebre.  The Convention marked a recommitment to organizing, civil rights, voting rights, humane immigration policies, trade policies that put working people first, a worker’s bill of rights, a representative and diverse labor movement that will fight for ALL working people.
