AFL-CIO’s 2017 Convention Concludes in St. Louis

The National AFL-CIO held its 28th Constitutional Convention in St. Louis, Missouri this week.  Delegates re-elected President Richard Trumka, Secretary-Treasurer Liz Shuler, and Executive Vice President Tefere Gebre.  The Convention marked a recommitment to organizing, civil rights, voting rights, humane immigration policies, trade policies that put working people first, a worker’s bill of rights, a representative and diverse labor movement that will fight for ALL working people. YouthBuild Students Take Part in Day of Caring, Reading

United Community Services for Working Families, an agency associated with the Reading-Berks Central Labor Council, recently participated in the United Way Day of Caring in Reading when its cohort of YouthBuild students volunteered to clean up Aulenbach’s Cemetery. Eight YouthBuild students along with the UCSWF President Ashley Chambers and program instructors spent the day cleaning up fallen tree branches, mowing the grass and power-washing the buildings.  Read More
