Service is Solidarity! Scranton Teachers Fill Food Pantries for Furloughed Workers

On Tuesday, the Scranton Federation of Teachers, Local 1147 members showed their support for 141 furloughed workers by filling local food pantries. They delivered about 3,000 pounds of food and above $2,000 in check donations to United Way Partner Agencies to help fill the food gap.

Attendees at the meeting included Rosemary Boland, President of the SFT, Representatives from the food pantries, Gary Drapek, President of the United Way of Lackawanna & Wayne Counties & Officers of IBEW Local 81 that provided the collection space in the meeting room of their building. Attendees also included the four endorsed State Representatives, Marty Flynn, Mike Carroll, Kyle Mullens & Bridget  Kosierowski. Congressman Matt Cartwright made remarks. President Gary Drapek added a check from the United Way COVID Relief fund.
