Pennsylvania AFL-CIO President Bloomingdale and Secretary-Treasurer Snyder walked the picket line with the USW brothers and sisters in their fight for their jobs and their union at Hoffman Industries on Wednesday March 6th. The Pennsylvania AFL-CIO Rally Vehicle was also dispatched to the rally as the workers marked the second anniversary date of the notorious lockout by Hoffman Industries.
On March 6, 2011, the company rejected Local 6996’s offer to continue to work under the terms of the agreement and sent the members off the property. Negotiations have been sporadic, meaning the lockout has continued, and 57 people are out of work.
Local 6996 members maintain a constant picket line to remind the public that the company is a scab operation. People passing by on the highway salute their courage and their resolve in their fight for good middle class jobs for all working families. In spite of the rainy and damp day, turnout was very good. Local 6996 President Dean Showers said the solidarity and unity of the members continues to be very strong.
If you or your union is able, it is important that we help the members stay strong. A monetary donation would be greatly appreciated to assist in this long struggle.
