On October 2nd, Vireo Health International employees voted to approve their first union contract with United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1776 Keystone State. This marks the first major contract ratification in the medical cannabis industry in Pennsylvania! The three-year contract “sets up a grievance procedure, contains comprehensive safety language, provides access to affordable and quality healthcare, guarantees wage increases, and includes an employer-funded retirement plan”.
Through their union contract, the growing, processing and dispensary workers at Vireo now know when they are going to get their next pay increase, have access to AFFORDABLE healthcare, and an employer-funded retirement plan. Safety is a huge concern for cannabis workers and the union contract addresses those concerns. Employees have the power to collaborate with management on safety. Additionally, as union members, Vireo employees have access to exclusive UFCW union benefits like free college, scholarships, free language learning programs, cell phone plan discounts, vacation and entertainment discounts, and much more!
Congratulations to UFCW Local 1776 KS on growing good jobs in PA!
