The Pennsylvania AFL-CIO is excited to announce that our 2017 annual Community Services Institute will be held from July 19-22 in Reading, PA. From Wednesday evening through Saturday, members of the labor movement will come together to discuss the many ways labor unions and the Central Labor Councils impact their communities across Pennsylvania. Registration is now open!
The Committee on Political Education (COPE) is a longstanding program of the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO. Its mission remains the faithful education, training, and mobilization of union members on current political and policy issues. This year’s conference at our convenient new location, The Conference Center at Shippensburg University, will cover critical issues related to the 2017 elections, the 2018 midterms, and the ongoing battle to protect workers’ rights during the Trump administration as well as within a hostile legislative environment here in Pennsylvania.
Our guest speaker on Friday night is best-selling author, journalist, and gerrymandering expert David Daley. His new book, Rat F**ked: The True Story Behind The Secret Plan To Steal America’s Democracy, is a sobering and timely work as we move into the 2020 redistricting process. All attendees will receive a copy of his book.
The $400 registration is all-inclusive, with on-site accommodations at the brand new Courtyard by Marriot, and all meals and materials provided.
There are a limited number of double-occupancy rooms available on a first-come, first-serve basis. If you an another attendee would like to share a room, then your all-inclusive registration fee will be $300 each. In order to take advantage of this, you must provide the name of your roommate when you register.
