RESOLUTION NO. 64 – LIHEAP FUNDING

LIHEAP FUNDING WHEREAS, energy costs have soared over the past several years and the working poor struggle to avoid service shut-offs; and Pennsylvania has seen a decline in Federal LIHEAP funding over the years; and Pennsylvania LIHEAP funds help the most vulnerable in Pennsylvania:  33.4% of the elderly, 28.9% of the disabled, and 18.5% of children under 5 benefit from LIHEAP funding. RESOLUTION NO. 63 – OPPOSING PRIVATIZATION OF SOCIAL SECURITY

OPPOSING PRIVATIZATION OF SOCIAL SECURITY WHEREAS, Social Security has been an integral part of working families’ retirement income since the 1940s, and for many working families, it makes the difference between a retirement with dignity or a retirement of poverty; THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO oppose privatizing Social Security and the risks it imposes on our retirees and our members; and THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we lobby the United States Congress and the United States President to oppose privatizing Social Security.
