Pennsylvania AFL-CIO Sends Letter to Governor Wolf Calling for Worker Safety Protections

(HARRISBURG) The Pennsylvania AFL-CIO sent a letter to Governor Tom Wolf, on behalf of the more than 700,000 union members across the Commonwealth, calling for action on COVID-19: “Dear Governor Wolf: People across Pennsylvania are seeing their everyday lives impacted by our Nation’s public health crisis.  In the past week we have seen policy measures enacted to protect public health from the spread of COVID-19.  All working people have a part to play in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, and workers’ rights must be treated as primary concerns with concrete solutions, not with inadequate, short-term gestures. While GM and Mack Trucks Return- UAW Local 1311 Still on Strike

Union Brothers and Sisters: While GM and Mack Trucks have successfully resolved their negotiations, the brothers and sisters of Langeloth Metallurgical remain on strike in Washington County.  They’ve been out on the picket line since September 9th.  Our Pennsylvania AFL-CIO, representing more than 700,000 union members across our Commonwealth, stands with these sisters and brothers fighting for their dignity on the job.  The company is trying to gut seniority in the plant, jeopardize worker safety (in an already hazardous workplace), and break their union.
