PA AFL-CIO PRESS RELEASE

Bob Casey Jr., Charles Dertinger and Labor Leaders GOTV with Union Members

Coffee Meet and Greet Part of PA AFL-CIO Bus Tour

At 8:30am on Wednesday, November 1st, Bob Casey Jr. and Charles Dertinger will join Pennsylvania AFL-CIO President Bill George and Secretary Treasurer Rick Bloomingdale to highlight the contributions of union volunteers in the 2006 election.  At the meet and greet at the IBEW Local 375 Hall, (1201 W. Liberty St. Allentown, PA) union members will rally with Charles Dertinger, an IBEW member, and Bob Casey Jr. for working family issues.

The Pennsylvania AFL-CIO Bus Tour seeks to rally working families for candidates who stand for our priorities.  Highlights include worksite leaflets with Lois Murphy and Joe Sestak, a plant tour with Bob Casey, Jr., and Chris Carney, and a rally with John Edwards, Ed Rendell, and Bob Casey, Jr.

The Pennsylvania Labor 2006 program mobilizes union members at their workplaces and communities.  More than two million voter education leaflets have been handed out at worksites across Pennsylvania since June 1st.   Each Saturday since August, an average of 700 walkers across Pennsylvania knocked on 185,000 doors.  The GOTV effort is part of a Pennsylvania and nationwide AFL-CIO midterm election voter mobilization, which is dedicated to engaging more than 1.4 million voters in Pennsylvania and 13 million voters nationwide.
