Pennsylvania’s Largest GOTV Push Begins Saturday

More Than 750 Union Members to Go Door-to-Door

Harrisburg, Pa: This Saturday, October 28th, more than 750 union members and candidates across Pennsylvania will knock on thousands of doors as part of what is the single largest Get-Out-The-Vote (GOTV) effort in the state.  Congressional candidates, Pennsylvania State Legislative candidates, and union leaders will join union members in talking to working families about the economic issues that are top-shelf priorities for voters this November. 

 

Each Saturday since August, an average of 700 walkers across Pennsylvania knocked on 175,000 doors.  Additionally, canvassers with Working America, the AFL-CIO’s community affiliate, are knocking on 2,225 doors each day in an effort to engage more working families in the electoral process.  The GOTV effort is part of a Pennsylvania and nationwide AFL-CIO midterm election voter mobilization, which is dedicated to engaging more than 1.4 million voters in Pennsylvania and 13 million voters nationwide. 

 

Walks are happening all over Pennsylvania.   Bob Casey for US Senate, will join union volunteers in Johnstown. USW President Leo Gerard, Secretary-Treasurer Jim English, District 10 Director John DeFazio will join Pennsylvania AFL-CIO President William George and union members in Wheatland, Mercer County, PA, In Pittsburgh, Jason Altmire, for US Congress will walk with Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl, County Executive Dan Onorato and Allegheny County Central Labor Council President Jack Shea.
