2004 Convention Resolutions
Resolution No. 13
PRIVATIZATION
WHEREAS, Right wing business advocates seek to privatize publicly funded services; and
Privatization is consistently used to break the union and deny workers the right to join a union; and
Privatization is another weapon of those who would seek to eliminate union wages and benefits; and
Privatization results in poor quality services to the tax-paying public; and
Privatization of public services is more about political patronage than “competition;” and
Privatization of public services is often the worst form of patronage and reward for campaign contributions.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO work with it’s affiliates to defeat administrative or legislated privatization schemes.
