Resolution No. 23

BOILER ENGINEERS ACT

WHEREAS, Boiler Engineers maintain and operate highly pressured vessels used in heating and manufacturing; and

Boiler Engineers are considered first responders by the Department of Homeland Security; and

Boiler engineering is a highly technical field requiring demonstrations of skill and ability; and

Boiler engineers should be licensed because of the dangerous machines that they operate; and

The Department of Homeland Security requires training and skill requirements to operate pressurized vessels.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO, and it’s affiliates, support the Boiler Engineers Act to assure a qualified workforce and protect the public.
