Resolution No. 34
ORGANIZING THE ORGANIZED
WHEREAS, Active participation by all members in the programs, activities and affairs of the local union is the key to building a stronger union and a more effective Labor Movement; and
The need to provide additional opportunities for member participation, beyond the local union meeting, has been recognized, noted and recommended by the AFL-CIO’s Committee on Evolution of Work in it’s report, “The Changing Situation of Workers and Their Union”; and
Pennsylvania AFL-CIO programs for local unions, including: Community Services, COPE, Political and Legislative Action Committees, Education, Information and Communications promote greater participation by giving union members greater opportunities to pursue their interests and develop skills, talents and leadership abilities within the local union structure.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That all delegates to this 36th Constitutional Convention encourage their respective organizations – their local unions and Central Labor Bodies – to improve and expand the existing Labor organizing activities and programs; and
THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That such programs be established where none exist by local Labor Organizations, with the assistance of the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO, to encourage and promote full participation to build stronger local unions and strengthen the entire Labor Movement in Pennsylvania.

Planning is now underway for the 2006 Convention
