2004 Convention Resolutions

Resolution No. 44

WORKERS’ COMPENSATION

WHEREAS, Injured workers gave up the right to sue in exchange for a no-fault, prompt and fair Workers’ Compensation; and

Injured workers’ benefits have no COLA but are frozen at the time of injury; and

The promise of Workers’ Compensation to injured workers has failed to meet it’s objectives of wage replacement; and

Workers and then widows who received the maximum benefit of 60 dollars per week are still at that level.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO support an adjustment in benefits to those who have been injured for more than five years.
