2004 Convention Resolutions

Resolution No. 46

OPPOSITION TO PRIVATIZATION OF THE P.L.C.B.          

WHEREAS, The United Food and Commercial Workers Union represents the thirty-five hundred  (3,500) employees of the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board; and

These Union members are trained to safeguard the public interest by not serving intoxicants to minors; and

In Fiscal 2003 alone the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board contributed over three hundred million dollars to the State’s General Fund in taxes and profits; and

These union members are paid good wages and quality health and welfare and pension benefits.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO, and it’s affiliates, oppose any and all attempts to privatize the Pennsylvania Liquor Board or any of it’s functions.
