Resolution No. 48

ENCOURAGE TRADE UNION CANDIDATES TO RUN FOR POLITICAL OFFICE

WHEREAS, No candidate for political office can better reflect the needs of working people than someone who is a member of a Trade Union; and

There are many highly qualified and competent members of Trade Unions who desire to become involved in politics even to the extent of running for political office.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO go on record in support of encouraging union members to run for political office; and

THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO encourage all Locals to seek out from their members potential candidates for public office and provide training, resources and support in their behalf.
