OSHA Removes Information of Workplace Deaths from Homepage

The mission of the Occupation Health and Safety Administration, or OSHA, is “to ensure safe and healthful working conditions for working men and women by setting and enforcing standards and by providing training, outreach, education, and assistance.” As part of their work, they maintained a prominent public list to acknowledge lives lost on the job.

In August of 2017, this important information to memorialize workers and prevent further tragedy was removed from the homepage of the OSHA website. The statistics on workplace fatalities and injuries are even more pressing during the coronavirus pandemic. It is being reported that thousands of complaints about workplace safety brought this year have not been looked into at all.

During an April 15th Virtual Town Hall Joe Biden said that OSHA was not doing all they could “to keep their workers safe and healthy.” He has experience with utilizing OSHA during the Obama Administration’s handling of the H1N1 and the OSHA office’s guidelines for workers during that time. Joe helped keep us safe then, and he will again.
