Senator Bob Casey Jr. Discusses Jobs, Trade, And More With PA Labor Unions

On Friday,  March 15th at the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 520 hall in Harrisburg, The Pennsylvania AFL-CIO, The Central Pennsylvania Area Labor Federation, and the Harrisburg Regional Central Labor Council hosted a labor roundtable discussion with Senator Bob Casey, Jr.

Senator Casey discussed labor and trade issues, the job market and current economic challenges including the sequester cuts.  The nearly two hour discussion provided the opportunity for many of our union members and labor leaders in attendance to ask questions and participate in a valuable discussion with the Senator.

Some of the topics that arose were: the need for significantly increased transportation funding; concern over plans to change Pennsylvania’s electoral vote allocation in Presidential elections; and privatization schemes – including concern over the US Postal Service.

Everyone involved felt that this was an extremely productive discussion, and Senator Casey expressed a clear desire to participate in more labor discussions such as this in the future.
