(HARRISBURG) – The Pennsylvania AFL-CIO has released the list of endorsed candidates for the 2018 primary and special elections. Prior to the State Federation’s 43rd Constitutional Convention, the Executive Council unanimously endorsed the reelection campaigns of Governor Tom Wolf and U.S. Senator Bob Casey.
In addition to the endorsement of Governor Tom Wolf and Senator Bob Casey, the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO Executive Council voted to endorse in selected races for the May primary and special elections ahead of the 43rd Constitutional Convention last week. The State Federation will release the list of endorsed candidates for the 2018 general election after the meeting of the Executive Council in June.
The officers of the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO, President Rick Bloomingdale and Secretary-Treasurer Frank Snyder, issued the following joint statement:
“The Pennsylvania AFL-CIO is proud to announce its endorsement of the reelection campaigns of Pennsylvania’s Governor Tom Wolf and U.S. Senator Bob Casey. Both Governor Wolf and Senator Casey have proven their stalwart support for working people and their economic rights. Now is a critical time in the fight for economic justice and the right to join together in a union. Throughout 2018, the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO and its 51 affiliated labor unions will work to elect candidates who boldly support working people in the fight for a fair economy and dignity at work.
The candidates endorsed by the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO’s Executive Council stand with all working people across the Commonwealth. All candidates endorsed by the Executive Council have demonstrated their dedication to the rights and advancement of working people and commitment to unrigging the economic system in favor of a fair playing field for all of us.”
