Thousands of Union Members Joined Together in Philadelphia in Protest of Zero Tolerance Immigration Policy

(PHILADELPHIA) Today, thousands of union members from across the Labor Movement joined together in Philadelphia to mount the largest protest of its kind against Trump’s policy of family separation for immigrant families. International union leaders from UNITE HERE, IUPAT, AFSCME, and UFCW traveled in along with union members from more than five states to partner with local Philadelphia and Pennsylvania AFL-CIO unions in a show of labor unity. AFL-CIO’s 2017 Convention Concludes in St. Louis

The National AFL-CIO held its 28th Constitutional Convention in St. Louis, Missouri this week.  Delegates re-elected President Richard Trumka, Secretary-Treasurer Liz Shuler, and Executive Vice President Tefere Gebre.  The Convention marked a recommitment to organizing, civil rights, voting rights, humane immigration policies, trade policies that put working people first, a worker’s bill of rights, a representative and diverse labor movement that will fight for ALL working people.
