All Politics is local: The measuring stick I use to judge a President is Does he Keep His Promises? President Trump promised in 2016 to bring back the manufacturing jobs we lost to China here in Pennsylvania. That has notr happened, as a matter of fact we have lost over 1000 good family wage substaining manufacturing jobs here in Blair County, since our President took office. Joe Biden WILL bring jobs back for us here at home, that is why we in the AFL-CIO have promised our support for the Biden/Harris ticket.  and we are asking you consider  for Congress Todd Rowley as our current congressman supports the Trump administration and look what that has done for our local workers. I would ask you consider voting as if your job depends on whom wins, as it truly does!

The Blair Bedford Labor Council was not able to conduct the NALC food drive this year which normally nets us 27 tons of food that we distribute to five area food banks.

THE BLAIR BEDFORD CENTRAL LABOR COUNCIL CONDUCTED OUR FIRST FACE TO FACE MEETING LAST EVENING WITH FIFTEEN DELEGATES IN ATTENDANCE.

She took over a time when the world of work has been turned upside down.

Union organizing is happening in some unexpected places, and sometimes in ways that disrupt the traditional union playbook.

LABOR PRESS: You’ve been given such a huge responsibility now, with the death of your friend Rich Trumka [In August she was appointed to serve the remainder of his term.] But the entire time you’ve been involved, labor has been struggling to come back. Do you have a secret plan? What can the AFL-CIO do to rebuild the labor movement?

It was deeply disappointing that just days after our nation paid homage to the great civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on his birthday, the same senators who praised his name struck down critical legislation that would have strengthened our election systems and ensured every American has the fundamental right to vote.

(HARRISBURG, PA) Today, Governor Tom Wolf delivered his final budget address.  The officers of the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO, President Rick Bloomingdale and Secretary-Treasurer Frank Snyder, issued the following statements:

On Wednesday, January 12, the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO hosted their first Labor 2022 retreat of the new year in Hershey, PA.  The meeting convened affiliate union leaders from across the Commonwealth to discuss the strategy for the 2022 campaign cycle.

"We are building pathways and support structures to grow a bold, inclusive, and transformative movement — I think that's pretty badass," says Shuler, the first woman elected president of the AFL-CIO in the labor federation's history.
